Privacy policy

Last updated September 15, 2026

We collect what we need to sell you a pillow and ship it: your name, your address, your email, and how you use this site. That includes recordings of how visitors move through our pages, with anything you type masked so we cannot read it. We do not sell your data for money. We do share activity data with advertising platforms so our ads reach the right people, and you can opt out of that in one click.

Who we are

Shadebourne, operated by KINETICS LLC, runs this store and website, including all related content, features, tools, products and services (the "Services"). Shadebourne is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. This policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase through the Services, or otherwise communicate with us.

If there is a conflict between our terms of service and this privacy policy, this privacy policy controls with respect to the collection, processing, and disclosure of your personal information. By using the Services you acknowledge that you have read it.

Personal information we collect

"Personal information" means information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include anonymous or de-identified information. Depending on how you use the Services and where you live, we may collect or process the following categories, including inferences drawn from them:

  • Contact details including your name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, and email address.
  • Financial information including payment card information, financial account information, transaction details, form of payment, and payment confirmations. We do not see or store your full card number. Payment card data is handled directly by Shopify Payments and other providers such as PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay under their own terms. We receive a confirmation, the card brand, and the last four digits.
  • Account information including your username, password, preferences and settings.
  • Transaction information including items you view, add to cart, purchase, return, exchange or cancel, and your past transactions.
  • Communications with us including anything you write in a support message, a review, or a form submission.
  • Device information including your device, browser, network connection, IP address, and other unique identifiers.
  • Usage information including how and when you navigate and interact with the Services, such as the pages you view, how far you scroll, where you click, and mouse or touch movement.

Where it comes from

  • Directly from you, when you order, create an account, join a list, or contact us.
  • Automatically through the Services, from your device and through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From our service providers, when they collect or process personal information on our behalf.
  • From our partners or other third parties, including advertising platforms.

How we use it

  • To provide and improve the Services. Processing payments, fulfilling and shipping orders, handling returns and exchanges, managing your account, remembering preferences, sending order notifications, and tailoring what you see.
  • Understanding how the site is used. Measuring traffic, and reviewing recordings and heatmaps of visits so we can find where pages are confusing or broken and fix them.
  • Marketing and advertising. Sending marketing email you asked for, and showing you ads on other websites based on items you viewed or added to your cart.
  • Security and fraud prevention. Authenticating your account, keeping payment secure, and detecting or acting on fraudulent, unsafe, or malicious activity. If you create an account, keeping your credentials private is on you.
  • Communicating with you. Answering support questions and maintaining our relationship with you.
  • Legal reasons. Complying with applicable law, responding to valid legal process, and enforcing or investigating violations of our terms.

Cookies, pixels, and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies. Some are necessary for the store to work, for example keeping items in your cart. Others measure performance and advertising.

  • Shopify. Runs the store and its built in analytics.
  • Microsoft Clarity. Records how visitors use the site, including pages viewed, clicks, scrolling, and mouse or touch movement, and replays those sessions so we can see where people get stuck. Text you type into forms, along with numbers and email addresses on the page, is masked before it reaches us and we cannot read it. Operated by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity sets the cookies _clck and _clsk.
  • Google Analytics 4. Measures site traffic and behavior. Operated by Google LLC.
  • Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API. Measures which ads lead to visits and purchases, and builds audiences for future ads. Operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.

We use session recording to improve the site, not to identify you. We do not use it to listen to, read, or capture anything you type. If you would rather not be recorded, you can block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, or use your browser's private mode.

You can control cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies will break parts of the store. Other than Global Privacy Control, described below, we do not recognize Do Not Track signals.

How we disclose personal information

  • With Shopify, vendors, and other service providers who work on our behalf, including IT, payment processing, analytics and session recording, customer support, cloud storage, fulfillment and shipping.
  • With business and marketing partners, to advertise to you. We use Shopify to support personalized advertising with third party services based on your activity across merchants and websites. Those partners use your information under their own privacy notices. Depending on where you live, you can direct us not to share information for that purpose. Opt out here.
  • When you direct or consent to it, such as to ship you products, or through social login and widgets.
  • With our affiliates or otherwise within our corporate group.
  • In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to comply with legal obligations including subpoenas and warrants, to enforce our terms, and to protect our rights and the rights of our users.

We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing activity data with advertising platforms may still count as a "sale," a "share," or "targeted advertising" under some United States state privacy laws, which is why the opt-out exists.

Relationship with Shopify

The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit is transmitted to and shared with Shopify and with third parties that may be located outside the country you live in.

We also use Shopify enhanced features that draw on data from your interactions with our store, with other merchants, and with Shopify. For those features Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information, including responding to requests to exercise your rights over that use. You can read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and, depending on where you live, exercise rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Third party websites and links

The Services link to sites we do not operate. If you follow one, review its own privacy and security terms. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, or accuracy of those sites. Information you post in public or semi-public places, including third party social platforms, may be visible to others without limitation on its use. A link is not an endorsement unless we say so.

Children's data

The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their jurisdiction. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has given us personal information, contact us using the details below and we will delete it. As of the last updated date of this policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell," as those terms are defined in applicable law, the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Security and retention

The store runs over HTTPS and payment data is handled by PCI compliant processors. No security measure is perfect or impenetrable, and information sent to us may not be secure in transit. Do not use unsecured channels to send us sensitive or confidential information.

How long we keep personal information depends on whether we need it to maintain your account, provide the Services, comply with legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Session recordings and analytics data are kept for a limited period under our providers' standard retention settings and are not used to build a profile of you by name.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights below. They are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and in some cases we may decline a request as permitted by law.

  • Right to access or know. Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to delete. Request that we delete personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to correct. Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right of portability. Receive a copy of your personal information and, in certain circumstances and with certain exceptions, ask us to transfer it to a third party.
  • Right to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. Exercise it here. If you visit our website with the Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signal enabled, depending on where you are, we will automatically treat that as an opt-out request for the device and browser you used. Where the signal can be associated with a Shopify account, the opt-out is applied to that account too. You can learn more at globalprivacycontrol.org.
  • Managing communication preferences. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You will still receive non-promotional messages about your account and orders.

To exercise a right, email contact@kineticshome.com with PRIVACY in the subject line, or use the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, as permitted or required by law. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. Before we accept a request from an agent we will require proof that you authorized them, and we may need to verify your identity with you directly. We respond in a timely manner as required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.

Complaints and appeals

If you have a complaint about how we process your personal information, contact us using the details below. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to appeal our decision by contacting us again, or to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We may transfer, store, and process your personal information outside the country you live in. Where personal information is transferred out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or an equivalent issued by the relevant UK authority, unless the destination country has been determined to provide an adequate level of protection.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised version here, update the last updated date, and give notice where the law requires it.
